Ministries at Advent
At Advent, ministry flows from our common life in Christ. These ministries are places to grow, serve, care for one another, and share in the good work God is doing among us. Wherever you are in your walk with Jesus, we hope you’ll find a place to belong and participate. Find out more about:
Worship & Liturgy
Worship is more than just singing, of course; it encompasses all the ways we orient our lives toward God. Liturgy, similarly, is not merely the words we read in the bulletin but the way we choose to anchor and order our worship in that which is good, true, and beautiful. As a ministry domain at Advent, Worship and Liturgy primarily refers to the way these broader concepts come into focus when the people of God gather in the sanctuary. In addition Sunday services, midweek prayer, compline, and more. In addition to attending these opportunities, here are some ways to connect more deeply as a volunteer:
Worship Service Team
Reading scripture
Leading prayers
Serving communion
Music team
Media Team
Running the sound booth
Advancing slides
Operating camera for streaming first service
Sanctuary Support Team
Baking communion bread
Preparing the altar
Washing communion cups
Resetting everything at the end of services
If you are drawn to serving in the realm of Worship and Liturgy, please reach out to Dcn. Ben or Kacy Henley.
Children & Families
Advent places a high priority on discipling and caring for the youngest members of our parish. To that end, the Children's Ministry focuses on those in our church who are 0-18 years old through Sunday morning children's ministry classrooms, student meetings for those in middle school and high school, and special events that build a child's sense of community and mission. Children's classrooms and student meetings focus on introducing young people to the story of the Scriptures, spiritual practices that will feed their faith, and an encouraging community of peers and leaders following Jesus alongside them. In addition to attending these opportunities, here are some ways to connect more deeply as a volunteer:
Classroom Teacher
Classroom Assistant
Check-Ins Coordinator
Designated Substitute
Other Seasonal Opportunities:
First-Half Childcare
Parish Nights Children’s Programming
Easter Egg Stuffing and Event Set Up
We are always looking for caring and kind adults who would like to volunteer with kids, either as a classroom leader, a classroom assistant, or a friendly face at the check-in station. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Dcn. Kathryn Watkins.
Discipleship
Spiritual formation is integral to the Christian faith. We grow as disciples through our seminars at The Canterbury House, Bible studies, Confirmation courses, and educational / artistic workshops. For young adults (18-28), Deacon Jeremiah curates a spiritual haven called Analog. In addition to attending these opportunities, here are some ways to connect more deeply as a volunteer:
Areas for Involvement
Attend seminars at The Canterbury House
Volunteer to serve at our educational / artistic workshops
Experience “lay ordination” through the Confirmation course
Join one of our Bible studies
Attend Analog if you are a young adult

Our Connections Ministry helps people find belonging and build meaningful relationships within our church community. Whether it’s a warm welcome on Sunday morning or joining a small group, we want everyone to know they have a place here.
Connections Ministry exists so that no one walks alone.

Mission
Advent Anglican Woodinville’s vision is that Mission would be a shared, personal experience of service. Service days (Hope Place / REST / Safe Parking / The Storehouse), community outreach (VBS / Dungeons and Deacons / Bloodworks Northwest) and our annual Faith Promise in October are all ways for us to inhabit the Great Commission together. To discover future opportunities to serve, subscribe to our newsletter and tour the Mission board in the foyer. In addition to attending these opportunities, here are some ways to connect more deeply as a volunteer:
Participate in one of our community service days
Serve as a volunteer for VBS or Dungeons and Deacons
Donate blood through our blood drives
Support our local and global partners through Faith Promise
