Report Abuse or Misconduct

It is our responsibility to care for people and to represent the name of God. We also believe there are unique opportunities to serve people when they are in pain. We're glad you've come to this page, because we genuinely want to hear what you are here to report.

What is this portal for?

This portal is specifically for concerns and reports of abuse of children or vulnerable adults and clergy misconduct. If you have a concern of a different nature, or are unsure about reporting, please reach out to our Director of Staff and Operations, Robin Lemke, at robin@advent.chuch. Additionally, if you’d like assistance with making a report, you can reach her by phone at 425-876-0919. Please note that a phone call does not constitute a report, but she can help you with the process.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect, please immediately report it to the state authorities here, then report it to us with the form below.

If you are unsure what you have witnessed counts as abuse or misconduct, we would rather hear from you than not. Please report your concerns.

If you are looking for further explanation and information specific to clergy sexual abuse, we recommend the “Definitions” page at Clergy Sexual Misconduct.

Who sees my report?

Every concern submitted here is logged digitally. The report will be sent to the Rector, the Director of Staff, and designated vestry members. The report may also be shared with the staff supervisor of the person in question. Additionally, the report may be shared with the bishop; if the report pertains to clergy, then it will necessarily be shared with the bishop. If illegal activities have been reported, civil authorities will be contacted as well.

We affirm the need for anonymous reporting, yet, in recognition of our limits, we believe we are insufficiently equipped to properly handle anonymous reports. If you want to report anonymously, we encourage you to report directly to the bishop, Ken Ross. His email address is ken@rockymountainanglican.org. For other avenues to communicate with the diocese, please contact the diocesan administrator at admin@rockymountainanglican.org. If the terminology of “diocese” and “bishop” are new to you, a diocese is a group of parishes overseen by a bishop. Also, our Diocesan policy on the protection of children is available here.

What happens next?

If the report went through successfully you will get an auto-response immediately. As soon as the report is seen you will get a personal response with more information. This may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on when the report is submitted.

Please know that we care about those who have been hurt and want to provide resources to you, including pastoral care if desired or resources for outside counseling. Upon receiving your report we would love to talk more with you about how we can help if desired. In the meantime, if you would like to look at resources for victims of assault the RAINN website can be a helpful starting place.
