Fr. Aaron serves Advent Anglican as Rector (priest in charge). Originally from Seattle, Aaron moved to Chicago for his undergraduate studies at Wheaton College. He and his wife Marissa married there before moving to the mountains of Colorado and then to Columbia, SC, in 2003 to attend seminary at Columbia International University. They both received an MA in Theological Studies, and Aaron went on to complete his MDiv in 2009. Along with a small group of people, Aaron worked to plant Church of the Apostles Columbia, where he was ordained a priest in 2007. They returned to the Seattle area in 2010 to further the work of planting Anglican churches in the Northwest, including the founding of this parish.
Marissa is an author (website here). She and Aaron spend a good deal of time enjoying books, games, and conversation with their five children, Griffin, Elijah, Ransom, Beatrix, and Benedict.
Bp. Ken Ross
Bp. Ken serves the parish of Advent Anglican by providing episcopal oversight, wise direction, and gentle care for the clergy. We count ourselves fortunate to receive from him according to the good gifts God has given him.
Dr. Jeremiah Webster, Pastor of the Arts
Dcn. Jeremiah serves Advent Anglican as the Pastor of the Arts. God's design has been to bring numerous artists to Advent, and Jeremiah is well equipped to nourish the artist's soul while guiding their gifts toward the service of others. He earned a PhD in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is an English professor at Northwest University. He published his first collection of poetry, After So Many Fires (Anchor and Plume), in 2017, and his poetry has appeared in numerous other publications. (Google his name and "poetry" to explore.) His literary contributions also include critical introductions to the poetry of T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats (Wiseblood Books), and he served as contributor/co-editor for The Spirit of Adoption (Cascade Books). His artistic gifts and passions extend well beyond poetry, including music and teaching, but what he is chiefly known for at Advent Anglican is the sincerity of his conviction to live a life surrendered to God.
Rev. Dr. Bruce Waltke
Rev. Dr. Bruce Waltke is a renowned Old Testament scholar with a PhD from Harvard University. He has held professorships at Dallas Theological Seminary, Regent College in Vancouver, Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, and Knox Theological Seminary in Ft. Lauderdale. He has served as president of the Evangelical Theological Society, was on the translation committee of the New American Standard Bible and New International Version, and is an honorary member of the committee responsible for Today’s New International Version. The list of his published works is too lengthy to include here; an abbreviated list can be found on his Wikipedia page. Beyond his academic acuity, Fr. Bruce is known at Advent for his gentle care for the people of the parish, whom he actively seeks to love and pastor.
Kristin Webster, Director of Children's Ministry
Kristin Webster serves the parish by organizing and serving alongside our dedicated volunteers who lead the children's time during Sunday worship. Her consistent care and genuine investment in the children are a key piece of Advent Anglican's commitment to seeing, valuing, and nurturing our children. Kristin reinforces our parish culture that seeks to welcome and integrate our young people into the life of the parish.
Dr. Regina Yeh, Lead Musician
Advent Anglican is blessed to have such an accomplished pianist serving us regularly. A quick Google of Regina Yeh reveals her high level of musical ability. Her critical acclaim, her international performances, her widespread achievements, and her various roles as a teacher or adjudicator speak for themselves. As a single example, after her performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall, the New York Concert Review praised her for her "passionate involvement in her playing," and her "fiery musicality," and called her playing "meltingly beautiful." Regina attended the University of Washington School of Music and Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts. While her musicality is tremendous, at Advent Anglican Regina is best known for the sincerity of her devotion to Christ, the joy in him that spurs her playing, and the remarkable humbleness with which she approaches serving the parish.
