Fr. Aaron serves Advent Anglican as Rector (priest in charge). Originally from Seattle, Aaron moved to Chicago for his undergraduate studies at Wheaton College. He and his wife Marissa married there before moving to the mountains of Colorado and then to Columbia, SC, in 2003 to attend seminary at Columbia International University. They both received an MA in Theological Studies, and Aaron went on to complete his MDiv in 2009. Along with a small group of people, Aaron worked to plant Church of the Apostles Columbia, where he was ordained a priest in 2007. They returned to the Seattle area in 2010 to further the work of planting Anglican churches in the Northwest, including the founding of this parish.
Marissa is an author (website here). She and Aaron spend a good deal of time enjoying books, games, and conversation with their three sons, Griffin, Elijah, and Ransom, and are happy to welcome their daughter Beatrix into the family.
Bp. Ken Ross
Bp. Ken Ross serves the parish of Advent Anglican by providing episcopal oversight, wise direction, and gentle care for the clergy. We count ourselves fortunate to receive from him according to the good gifts God has given him.
Deacon Jen Roach
Dcn Jen served in a wide variety of roles in several churches before Advent Anglican was fortunate enough to receive her. She works as a therapist to those in particularly dire circumstances, and she is currently pursuing her PsyD. At Advent, Jen is known for her genuine interest in people, her disarming presence, and her capacity to provide both empathy and laughter during some of life's harder moments.
Rev. Dr. Bruce Waltke
Rev. Dr. Bruce Waltke is a renowned Old Testament scholar with a Ph.D from Harvard University. He has held professorships at Dallas Theological Seminary, Regent College in Vancouver, Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, and Knox Theological Seminary in Ft. Lauderdale. He has served as president of the Evangelical Theological Society, was on the translation committee of the New American Standard Bible and New International Version, and is an honorary member of the committee responsible for Today’s New International Version. The list of his published works is too lengthy to include here; an abbreviated list can be found on his Wikipedia page. Beyond his academic acuity, Fr. Bruce is known at Advent for his gentle care for the people of the parish, whom he actively seeks to love and pastor.
Dr. Jeremiah Webster, Pastor of the Arts
Deacon Jeremiah serves Advent Anglican as the Pastor of the Arts. God's design has been to bring numerous artists to Advent, and Jeremiah is well equipped to nourish the artist's soul while guiding their gifts toward the service of others. He earned a PhD in English from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and is an English professor at Northwest University. His poetry has appeared in numerous publications. (Google his name and "poetry" to explore.) His literary contributions also include critical introductions to the poetry of T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats (published by Wiseblood Books), and he served as contributor / co-editor for The Spirit of Adoption (Cascade Books). His artistic gifts and passions extend well beyond poetry, including music and teaching, but what he is chiefly known for at Advent Anglican is the sincerity of his conviction to live a life surrendered to God.
Fr. Robert Dalgleish
Fr. Robert is a native to Australia who met his wife, an American from Seattle, while both teaching in the “outbush” in Alice Springs. They returned to the United States, where two degrees and three children later, Robert responded to the call of ministry. Following his ordination, he served congregations in Seattle, New Orleans, and Rochester (NY). He has also served as a chaplain for end-of-life transitions. Through a series of events, Robert had the opportunity to reexamine his understanding of "church." This led him to become a priest within the "Convergence Movement" which respects and seeks unity within a broad faith context and this ultimately led him to be received into the Anglican Communion. Robert has been referred to as a Christian contemplative and loves to read the writings of ancient and modern day Christian mystics. At Advent he is known for his ability to carefully and insightfully see people and help them see themselves in light of God's presence.
Kristin Webster, Director of Children's Ministry
Kristin Webster serves the parish by organizing and leading the children's time during Sunday worship. Her consistent care and genuine investment in the children are a key piece of Advent Anglican's commitment to seeing, valuing, and nurturing the children of the parish. Kristin reinforces our parish culture that sees the children not as a distraction but a delight, not as a problem to manage but as people to welcome.
Donald Kimball, Administrator
We're fortunate to have Donald as our Administrator. His background in public speaking, campaign management, volunteer coordination, and financial services makes him an excellent fit for the diverse needs of parish administration. His experience with media and technology are a great benefit as well. At Advent he is known for his personal congeniality, his polished demeanor, and his eagerness to serve the needs of a growing parish.
Dr. Regina Yeh, Lead Musician
Advent Anglican is blessed to have such an accomplished pianist serving us regularly. A quick Google of Regina Yeh reveals her high level of musical ability. Her critical acclaim, her international performances, her widespread achievements, and her various roles as a teacher or adjudicator speak for themselves. As a single example, after her performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall, the New York Concert Review praised her for her "passionate involvement in her playing," and her "fiery musicality," and called her playing "meltingly beautiful." Regina attended the University of Washington School of Music and Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. While her musicality is tremendous, at Advent Anglican Regina is best known for the sincerity of her devotion to Christ, the joy in him that spurs her playing, and the remarkable humbleness with which she approaches serving the parish.
